Mairangi Bay Surf Club Rookie Lifeguard Program 2009/2010

Mairangi Bay Junior Surf Club offers an exciting lifesaving initiative targeted at our future lifeguards;  the Rookie Lifeguard Program. The program is open to candidates who are aged 13 as of 1 October 2009.

Briefly, this program is designed to cover all areas of surf life saving and will help prepare candidates to become a qualified Life Guard by completing their Surf Lifeguard award (Bronze Medallion)  when they turn 14.

The opportunities available to young men and women who are members of a surf life saving club are extraordinary. Once a person has their Lifeguard award, they can advance through the lifeguard programme in which ever direction they choose - First Aid, Inflatable Rescue (IRB), Lifeguard development. They are also able to participate in the surf sports programme and put their skills on the line against others - be it beach sprints, swimming, surf boats or IRB's.
