Junior Surf

Juniors with Boggie BoardsMairangi Bay's junior surf program is one of the most successful in the country, leading the way in training junior club members in water safety, rescue techniques and basic first aid.

The Junior Surf program at Mairangi Bay caters for children from ages 7-13. This is done in three groups; A Group are children 7-9, B Group 10-11, and C Group 12-13. Currently we have over 280 members participating. A number which is growing every summer. Each group has its own set of instructors and craft to learn on. Emphasis is given to water skills, craft, and beach events. However we do not teach swimming. This program provides the base for our surf club as it is from these enthusiastic participants that Mairangi Bay draws most of it's senior members and lifeguards.
