Mairangi Bay offers members of all ages the opportunity to compete at surf lifesaving competitions here in Auckland and throughout the country. The competitions are high profile and well documented by local and national media. These competitions have allowed Mairangi Bay to be recognised as one of New Zealand's elite surf clubs. In
2007 our club finished third in the inter-club nationals held at Midway,
Gisborne. Mairangi Bay has also won the Auckland Championships at Ruakaka in
2006. Several senior members participated in the Lion Foundation Surf League held
at Mount Maunganui. Danny Morrison was the Auckland Team Captain.
Mairangi has produced some fine athletes such as Katie Pocock, Daniel
and Kevin Morrison, Michael Buck, Travis Mitchell, Amy Brookes-Peterson and Duane Dalton, to name a few. These athletes have been recognised for their talent through Lifeguard Awards and media coverage.
Currently Michael Buck and Kevin Morrison are in the New Zealand team and Dean Kent has also
recently represented New Zealand at World Championships.
